Sustainability and climate change are two interrelated issues and are urgent global challenges. With increasing global temperatures and extreme weather, the impacts of climate change are felt in various sectors, including agriculture, health and the economy. The importance of sustainability in natural resource management is becoming increasingly clear, because sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the current generation without compromising the capabilities of future generations. One of the real impacts of climate change is an increase in the frequency of natural disasters. According to data from the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency, Indonesia is experiencing an increase in the number of natural disasters, ranging from floods to droughts. This has the potential to affect the country’s food security, which is highly dependent on stable weather conditions. Countries must adopt sustainable agricultural practices to maintain land productivity. Apart from that, climate change also has an impact on human health. The spread of infectious diseases, such as dengue fever and malaria, is predicted to increase along with changes in weather patterns. Therefore, a more integrated approach is needed in health systems that not only responds to epidemics but also mitigates the impacts of climate change. In the economic sector, climate change creates major financial risks. Companies and investors are starting to consider climate risks in investment decisions. There is the potential for huge losses in asset values if climate change is not taken seriously. The development of green technologies and investment in renewable energy is now a major focus for many countries to create economies that are more resilient to climate change. As part of global efforts, international agreements such as the Paris Agreement seek to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and encourage countries to commit to ambitious emissions reduction targets. This shows that international diplomacy plays an important role in dealing with the challenge of climate change, although its implementation at the national level often encounters obstacles. Also, the role of civil society and individuals is no less important. Awareness of sustainability needs to be instilled in every individual. From reducing single-use plastics to saving energy, every small action can contribute to larger sustainability goals. Education is also key in fighting climate change. The younger generation needs to be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to face and deal with these issues effectively. Sustainability-oriented educational programs must be embedded at all levels of education. Lastly, innovation and environmentally friendly technology will be the main pillars in achieving sustainability. The development of solutions such as electric vehicles, renewable energy and sustainable agricultural practices can help minimize the negative impacts of climate change. When all these elements work together, it is hoped that this global challenge can be faced in a more effective and efficient way.
